Moisture will promote the growth of fungus, mould and other pathogens if left unchecked in living spaces. Condensation will form damaging the structure and fabric of the interior, this can be alleviated from these areas with the use of ventilation. The use of background ventilation such as trim vents or slot vents in windows and doors allow fresh air to enter the building and excess moisture to be expelled to the outdoors. The use of these vents deters the build up of condensation but also allows heat to be lost, mechanical means can be employed for the ventilation of buildings but the cost of purchasing, installing, running and maintaining the equipment is a burden when used..
Air Quality
All household rooms should have a minimum of 4 air changes per hour to ensure a health environment, in kitchens and bathrooms it is recommended that these rooms have upto 15 air changes per hour due to the increase in water vapour.
Solution
We have developed a ventilation product that allow moisture to escape from lofts and attics but retains the heat. This product has no moving parts, does not require power or maintainance.
A further product has been developed for use in conjunction with background ventilation such as window and door slot vents or trim vents, this allows excess moisture to escape while retaining the indoor heat. This product looses little or no heat to the outdoors when used at normal household temperatures (up to 30 degrees centigrade). The product also reduces sound polution from entering the building through such ventilation means.
